Adults in lifelong learning
Grundtvig partnership

Duration of the project

October 1 2012 - October 1 2014

Description of the project

The partnership involves organizations from Romania, Italy, Lithuania and Hungary focused on the topic of training centres involvement in parents’ education,so that they can have a significant role as educators for their children in learning activities. It is aimed to enable trainers, counselors, staff involved in education and parents from partner organizations to exchange experience, learning more about their ways of including parents in education and training. All partner institutions collaborate with families from all social categories, coming from various areas, most of them with social, financial and educational problems. As a result, their involvement in the educational activities tends to be minimal. In this context, the project aims to provide new European dimension of knowledge and practice,to raise the awareness of parents towards being themselves educators, with the focus on social involvement, preventing school dropout and increasing motivation for learning among unemployed and disadvantaged citizens. If parents knew better the needs and demands that students have to face,if they became more aware of the importance of education for their children, they would probably get more involved in supporting the efforts made by the society in educating them. Since EU colleges, educational centres, NGO`s, too, are facing more or less to the same problems, the partnership aims to organize meetings, seminars and visits between representatives of partner organizations (teachers advisors, inspectors, minority members, unemployed people) and their colleagues and parents dealing with problem children, in order to study examples of good practices, so as to increase motivation for adult learning, in all partner institutions.
